The blurring of sectors is alive and well. The past month, headlines have been peppered with stories of yoga and meditation being offered in art museums. From New York City’s Brooklyn museum to the Museum of Modern Art to San Diego’s Museum of Man, the trend is gaining steam coast to coast. Two concepts adjoining to create something bigger, more impactful & engaging than each on its own. Enjoying art in a more mindful and contemplative atmosphere. A meet cute of the ages!
Albeit interesting in itself, this trend symbolizes a deeper one we’ve seen manifest over the past decade and some - the blurring of sectors. Another newsworthy example? The number of businesses that have evolved into part time co-working spaces. From restaurants to retail spaces to music studios to athletic clubs, everyone vying for a piece of the co-working pie. At retail properties alone, co-working spaces are predicted to grow by a rate of 25% annually through 2023, according to a report from Jones Lang LaSalle.
